There is a new Portland, Oregon Writers Group forming. I am helping to organize this and my goal is to try and create an enviornemnt that has good chemistry, fuflfills the needs of the members, and has a dedicated following.
I have an MFA in Ctreative Writing and enjoy working with writers to inspire, critique and motivate. I have been neglecting my own writing needs and have gotten caught up in my "day job". My goal is to form a serious (yet playful) writers group that allows us to inspire and motivate each other to follow our dreams.
The writer's group will be geared towards:
All genre's of writing including fiction, creative non-fiction, journalism and poetry. (No technical writiing)
Emphasis on goal setting and motivation. This doesn't neccessarily mean having to get published, but does mean that we set goals and try to reach them, no matter how big or how small.
Tribe me at my personal tribe site if you are interested. I am looking to "cap" this group off at ten members.

Re: New Portland, OR Writers Group
Sat, November 20, 2004 - 10:23 PMThis sounds like just what I've been looking for. I currently stuck in the middle of a writing project and don't really know how to get off the ground with a novel I've been itchin' to write for awhile now. Lots of ideas, but not much skill in terms of fiction. My strengths are more in political discourse and ranting socio-political diatribes (freaching to the choir, mostly). I used to write a great deal, but marriage, divorce and day jobs took over my creativity and witht ehcurrent politcal flav. in this empire I think it's time to incite some rioting. Oh, if only words could still break down the walls.
So please let me know if there is still room and I'd love to offer my great editing skills to the skill bench.
Thanks for doing this. you rock.
